Scams all alike aren’t too strange to be dealing with in 2016. What’s really strange is that, in 2016, some folks don’t know how to deal with a scam or how to spot one. Then again, not everybody has the same experience as me or anybody else versed in this area. Since the early days of the internet, online scams are something I looked out for and I learned how they worked. If you’re a young’un and don’t really know how this stuff actually is, let me give you a bit of advice to keep your BnS gold and account safe.
Blade and Soul Gold: Keep Your Account Safe
The above picture is an example of what these phishing scams look like. As a player of Blade and Soul, you’ll be targeted by emails that look like they are legitimate emails from NCSoft. I emphasize the word look because there are telltale signs that show the reality of the email.
First and foremost, these phishing scams will ask you to log into a website that looks similar to the NCSoft log in page, but the url will show that it is not at all the official site. Right there, you’ll know immediately that it’s a phishing scam. NCSoft will NEVER ask you to input your details in any site other than the official one.
Second, check for bad English. Not to pigeonhole a particular race or people, but most of these phishing scams come from non-native English speaking people. Most notably, the Chinese. Without checking the url of the website the email is linking, it’s already telling that it’s a scam if there are errors in the English of the message as NCSoft will never send out an email that looks unprofessional from a business standpoint. If you ever see erroneous English, delete that email from “NCSoft” immediately.
Finally, NCSoft will never address you as just “customer” as it says on the image above. They’ll always address you with your name and unique customer ID number that was generated when you first made your NCSoft or Blade and Soul account. No name and/or ID, no dice for the scammers.
Keep these in mind whenever you receive something shady. It might just save your Blade and Soul gold from getting stolen or prevent your Blade and Soul account from being sock puppet for the scammers so that they can scam more people in-game. Take care and play safe.
